12/15/2023 0 Comments Raw power vinyl![]() ![]() This exchange resulted in me being asked about designing a poster for the Raw Power deluxe package and the Raw Power tour. Iggy, not knowing Robert and I already knew each other, asked Robert to send me the Stooges book. Anyway, Robert was working on the deluxe re-issue of Raw Power, as well as a book on the Stooges. In a ridiculously fortuitous convergence for me, I was in touch with Iggy about doing a portrait of him for my show at Deitch Projects, and I also worked with photographer Robert Matheu on the Billy Idol greatest hits album “Idolize Yourself”. Their reunion has resulted in a Raw Power tour. This tragedy however seems to have brought Iggy and James Williamson back together. Don’t get me wrong, the first two Stooges records are great, but I always wanted to hear material from Raw Power. When the Stooges re-formed in 2003(I think) they only performed material from their first two albums because return member and original guitarist Ron Asheton did not play guitar on Raw Power. Raw Power added guitarist James Williamson to the line-up and his leads made the Stooges sound even more aggressive. Coincidentally, former Sex Pistol Steve Jones contributed lead guitar to the track. The more I learned about Iggy, his music with the Stooges, his solo material, and his collaborations with David Bowie and many others, the more I realized what a diverse talent and icon he is. During my days of listening to punk almost exclusively, all three Iggy and The Stooges albums were in heavy rotation, but the one I tended to skate to was Raw Power. I also loved the Iggy Pop solo song “Repo Man”, the title track from the movie Repo Man directed by Alex Cox in 1984. I discovered the Stooges after hearing The Sex Pistol’s cover of their song “No Fun” from The Stooges first album. I have been a fan of Iggy and The Stooges since the mid eighties. ![]() 18 x 24″ Screen Print, Signed by Shepard Fairey and Robert Matheu (photographer), Edition of 650, $75, Limit 1 Per Person / Household ![]() 12/15/2023 0 Comments Captin america civil war review![]() ![]() There is a sadness that fills the movie, a sense of inevitability, and a feeling that while we do not want to see this conflict happen, we understand why it does – why it NEEDS to. When those punches are finally thrown, it’s an earned moment, no matter how much we do not want to see these characters go to war. Second, the surprises of the film are best not telegraphed ahead of time – we know that Iron Man and Captain America will come to blows, but how we get there is everything to this movie. It is so graceful how the directors, the cinematographer, and the screenwriters tell this story, giving us bits of information and character development, so that during the film’s devastating third act our home is on the edges of our seats. In some of these shots (one major battle sequence is shot with IMAX cameras, and it is glorious to behold), all that was missing was the pre-requisite POW! BANG! and SMASH! Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely know these characters, know their rhythms, and best of all, know when to be funny and when to go darker. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo are masters at orchestrating each battle (with second unit help from John Wick’s Chad Stahleski and David Leitch!), with cinematographer Trent Opaloch keeping things bright, and knowing when to set up that comic-booky iconic frame. It’s just that this time, the moments stick. I don’t want to dive too much into the plot first, the story really isn’t all that different than Batman v Superman, with many of the same beats. Moments of quiet conversation become riveting, intense moments because we are so engaged with these people – even the new ones, who although are placed right in the thick of things, are no less compelling than the ones we’re already familiar with. We have watched these relationships build and be tested, and Captain America: Civil War is payoff for much of what we’ve seen with these characters so far. “Civil War” couldn’t have gotten here any other way, and not to disparage other superhero movies from the Distinguished Competition, but it is due to the audience’s investment in these characters that makes the emotional resonance of what happens in “Civil War” even possible, and it’s not a place that can be reached with a single movie. In Captain America: Civil War, Marvel Studios has fulfilled those promises and then some, resulting in what could be the best superhero movie yet. The MCU films have never been lacking for spectacle, but we have seen these stories play out over the space of 8 years now, and the potential for where these films could go has been teasingly just beyond the horizon. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) has steadfast beliefs that, while true for him, conflict with the politics and the needs of the modern day. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is constantly measuring himself against the values of his father and finding himself wanting. We’ve spent hours with Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, the Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, so many others… all of these characters have rich inner lives and inner struggles. Since Iron Man in 2008, Marvel Studios has not only given us some incredible imagery and story, it has given us characters to cheer for, characters who aren’t simple caricatures of the comic books but ones that actually come off the page in a truly cinematic way. When you make the promises that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made since the beginning, eventually you have to deliver on those promises. ![]() ![]() Mental health professionals performing an evaluation and developing a treatment plan may be at risk for malpractice litigation when reasonable care is not exercised to prevent harm to a third party. There are also reporting considerations regarding self-injury and abortion. Counselors should be mindful of obligations to warn and protect against clients’ threats of danger to identifiable or foreseeable victims of (a) HIV/AIDS, (b) child abuse or neglect, (c) incest, and (d) battery. The duty to warn and protect may arise in contexts other than threat of injury or homicide of identifiable victims. Application in the Context of Other Therapeutic Issues Although many cases have issued rulings consistent with Tarasoff, others have resulted in rulings that allow a cause of action to a “foreseeable” victim who may or may not have been identifiable by a therapist. Different interpretations in various jurisdictions can result in apparent inconsistencies. In deciding whether duty to protect is present under the law, judges generally consider whether (a) there was a special relationship and the client communicated an intended threat directly to the therapist, (b) harmful action (such as severe injury, death, or psychological harm) was foreseeable and imminent, and (c) the victim was identifiable. The duty to protect continues, however, to be open for interpretation throughout the United States. The duty to warn and protect has been upheld in other states and has become the standard of practice for mental health professionals. The court held that danger to the public supercedes the protective privilege of a therapeutic relationship. Moreover, the California Supreme Court extended therapists’ responsibility to take reasonable steps necessary to protect intended victims, thereby establishing duty to protect in the 1976 rehearing of the Tarasoff case. In overruling the lower court in 1974, the California Supreme Court issued a ruling that established a duty for therapists to warn potential third-party victims. The defendants won in the lower court, but the case was appealed and the original ruling was overturned. Tarasoff of the imminent danger posed by Mr. Tarasoff’s parents filed wrongful death suits against the university as well as the psychologist and the psychiatrist because of their negligence to warn Ms. Tarasoff’s home, shot her with a pellet gun as she ran from the house, and ultimately killed her with a kitchen knife. Tatiana Tarasoff was murdered by Prosenjit Poddar, a student from India enrolled at the University of California. The legal precedent for establishing a duty to warn and a duty to protect was set in the wrongful death case of Tarasoff v. The American Psychological Association’s and the American Counseling Association’s Code of Ethics recognize exceptions and note that counselors are not required to maintain confidentiality when clients pose a threat or risk to identifiable others. An exception exists, for example, when a client threatens to harm him- or herself or others. Privileged communication is not available in all states and it is not absolute. The client, rather than the counselor, owns this legal privilege and generally, only the client has the right to release information from the relationship. Privileged communication is a legal doctrine (also known as therapist-patient privilege) that declares client-counselor therapeutic communications are to be kept private by the counselor. ![]() Confidentiality is a demonstration of respect bestowed on the client by the counselor wherein information between the two will not be divulged by the counselor. The understanding of a counselor’s duty to warn begins with acknowledgment of the difference between the ethical responsibility of confidentiality and the legal term of privileged communication. The duty to protect is a counselor’s duty to reveal confidential client information in the event that the counselor has reason to believe that a third party may be harmed. The duty to warn refers to a counselor’s obligation to warn identifiable victims. ![]() 12/15/2023 0 Comments Pillars of eternity companions![]() ![]() I do use sidekicks, my gripe is that they don't comment or are a part of the main story. But that may be intentional, since it forces you to make some tough choices. And another part of the problem is that the presence of FLC's wouldn't be so bad if the number of non faction limited companions was greater. On the other hand, there's a certain realism to the idea that you have NPCs that have their own factional alignments and would refuse to work with factions that are diametrically opposed to their own. On one hand, yes they limit your choices when certain companions will quit if you choose a path that they don't like. Regarding faction-limited companions (FLC), it's a double edged sword. Yes, they're not as good as full blown companions, but they're better than nothing if you don't want to be stuck playing with faction limited companions. I think this is a massive mistake and it makes setting up a party that role plays well extremely difficult as there is no way to change their minds or "harden" them as some other games Don't overlook using sidekicks. For me this limits the flexibility and amount of actual choices you have when you want to focus on companions and not side kicks. With all said and done technically you could combine some of the people above even though your choices won't match them or the personalities in the group don't mix, but you'll always feel like they don't belong together. There's more to it than factions because some characters are also not really attuned to eachother. I think with her you can definitely pick the Príncipi or the Huana aside from the Valians of course.īut this isn't it. Pallegina: You cannot join the RDC as this will force her to leave. You can have him on board for any of the other factions as none of them will do anything harmful to the Príncipi. She will stay if you select the Príncipi. Maia: You cannot select the Valians or the Huana as this will force her to leave. The only faction that allows Tekēhu to stay other than the Huana are the Príncipi. You also cannot join the Rautaians as this involves killing the queen or the prince. Tekēhu will leave if you go this route. From an RP perspective with more freedom than strict faction loyalty you can't really join the Valians. I'm not sure what happens if you leave him in the tavern, but seriously strange if you still have him tag along when you're killing part of his tribe. Killing them basically makes it impossible to have Tekēhu in the party. Tekēhu: going with the Valian route requires you to kill leaders of the Wakahi tribe. Of course this isn't necessary because some of the faction companions can in fact be used to be part of the other faction, but let's analyse this: So from role playing perspective you will always play with the first 3 and then one of the ones from the faction list. There's only 3 party members that are not linked to a faction. Party size is 5 so excluding the PC you have 4 slots. Let's analyse the main companions and why Obsidian made a mistake: Now there are of course side kicks that you can bring along, but they're not part of the main story and they don't banter so they're just tag alongs. What bothered me is that a lot of them don't really mix together which makes creating unique playthroughs almost impossible. Now the thing that bothered me wasn't that I didn't like some of them or that some of them just aren't as good in terms of stats (well all of them). Most of us have played this game many times and have tried many different compositions of party members unless of course you play solo. ![]() 12/14/2023 0 Comments Itunes windows backup location![]() ![]() Now, to make sure everything is done correctly, connect your iPhone or iPad to your Windows PC and take a fresh backup.
